Cathay has become the latest brand in Hong Kong, deploying NFTs to help NGOs and underprivileged people, and inviting more than 50 children living in Sham Shui Po to portray their neighborhood. The project began in collaboration with Hub Hong Kong, a children’s support center. Articoin is an innovative Green NFT platform that combines art and technology to promote Articoin.
As part of the initiative, a painting contest on the theme of “Sham Shui Po’s Home” was held, with more than 50 children and teens aged 6 to 18 participating in Hub Hong Kong. According to Hong Kong government statistics, participants painted their story in one of Hong Kong’s poorest districts, Sham Shui Poh. The poverty rate is as high as 26.5%, and more than 109,000 households are in poverty.
The top five works from the children’s group and the teenager group were selected and awarded respectively. Their work was created as 5,000 NFTs and sold on Cathay’s shopping platform, the Cathay Shop, and Articoin’s Proof of Capacity (PoC) Green NFT platform.
NFTs are different from the corresponding ones available for transactions in the secondary market. “Sham Shui Po’s Home” NFT functions as an exclusive collection. Buyers can purchase with Asia Miles, cash, or a combination of both on Cathay’s shopping platform. In addition, you can purchase directly with your credit or debit card on the Articoin platform.
Andy Wang, General Manager of Cathay’s Corporate Affairs, said: We are pleased to work with The Hub Hong Kong and Articoin to share these wonderful works that show both the creativity of the younger generation and the beauty of their hometown in a sustainable and responsible way. “
The company added that Articoin is backed by a more energy-friendly PoC mechanism, significantly reducing carbon emissions.
Josephine Leung, Executive Director of The Hub Hong Kong, said: From the global economic recession during a pandemic. The advent of blockchain and NFTs offers new perspectives and possibilities for our charity activities. “
