Noodles & Co. The former Broad Ripple site will be home to the Dave’s Hot Chicken restaurant.
A group of Fort Wayne-based franchisees will open a Los Angeles-based chain location on 927 Broad Ripple Ave in late 2022.
Todd Hollman, co-owner of the Dave Diggity franchise group with Tyler Freeland and Matt Fortney, said the Broad Ripple building will be Dave’s Hot Chicken’s second Indiana location. The first location at 530 Mass Apartments Avenue, developed by Penrose Onmas Apartments, is scheduled to open in March.
Over the next five years, Dave Digiti will open 28 Dave’s Hot Chicken Restaurants. There are 15 stores in Indiana and 13 stores in Columbus, Ohio. In addition to Indianapolis and its suburbs, Holman said Fort Wayne, Bloomington, and Lafayette are likely sites of restaurants specializing in “Nashville hot” style chicken.
“When we first joined, there were six Dave’s Hot Chicken restaurants in California,” Holman said of a growth chain that now includes more than 30 restaurants in six states and Canada. ..
Holman said he wasn’t worried that Broad Ripple’s location was close to Joera’s hot chicken, which opened on 1072 Broad Ripple Avenue in 2018.
“We knew they were there,” he said. “And competitors offering a slightly different variety will always enter the market. We are excited about the future location on Broad Ripple’s main strip.”
The building of 927 Broad Ripple Ave. has been Noodles & Co since 1992. Until 2006, when it opened, it was occupied by the Mezzaluna restaurant. Noodles & Co. Was closed earlier this year.
