Over the past week, various parts of Yadkin County have become construction sites. After a three-year hiatus, Impact Yadkin has made a big comeback. During the week of June 5th to June 10th, individuals in the youth age group spent time helping numerous homeowners in Yadkin County. More than 1,000 volunteers have come together to make Impact Yadkin a success.
Various construction works were carried out throughout the week. On Sugar Town Road, the crew of “It’ll Buff” helped build the slopes and decks. “Shorething Martin” across the town also built a deck, and “Martyinthe USA” installed new flooring. Some crew members were tasked with painting, while others installed new roofs. There was no shortage of projects completed by volunteers this week.
In the Boonville area, a crew member helped build a new deck for Vaughan Hobson, the late wife of hunter safety instructor Carson Hobson. Vaughan is a member of the Richmond Hill Baptist Church, and she and Carson have been members for over 20 years. Last week she was blessed with a new backdeck in favor of Impact Yadkin.
“Carson would have liked this,” said Vaughan Hobson. “I didn’t expect them to choose us. More or less I was laid down on this. It’s great that they put this effort into this in this day and age. You can’t ask for anything more. It’s God-led, which means a lot. “
The crew at Hobson’s residence was called “Russell’s Muscle” after the crew leader Keith Russell. It took the crew four days to dismantle the old deck and build a safer and better deck. The crew consisted of several young people and four adults from the Richmond Hill Baptist Church. The crew members were 12 to 59 years old, and the youngest was Jace Pendry, who first joined Impact Yadkin.
In several parks in the county, Impact Yadkin hosted parties in the parks for children from kindergarten to fifth grade. The party in the park brought together young people for a fun time, including various activities and light meals. The park party was attended by an average of 25 or more children a day at each park.
Since 2011, Impact Yadkin has changed the county community. The twice-yearly event brings together people of all ages to volunteer to improve the lives of their communities, improve their homes and reach out to their communities. The ministry consists of the towns of Yadkinville, Eastbend, Boonville and Fall Creek. It is a combination of local churches of different denominations, all of which have a desire to improve local churches in their communities.
