Kava, an open source layer 1 blockchain, has added support for EVM smart contracts today with the release of the alpha version of Ethereum Co-Chain.
Kava Network has successfully launched the alpha release of Ethereum Co-Chain today at 13:30 UTC. This release adds EVM developer support to your network, allowing developers and dApps in the Ethereum ecosystem to build and deploy with Kava.
Over 15 protocols such as Beefy Finance, AutoFarm and RenVM will be deployed on Ethereum Co-Chain’s closed testnet as part of the Kava Pioneer Program. These projects will test the interoperability between Ethereum in Kava and Cosmos Co-Chains before launching the mainnet.
Through its co-chain architecture, Kava Network integrates the power of Ethereum developers with the speed and interoperability of Cosmos into a single scalable network. This allows Cosmos and Ethereum developers to build on one chain and access users and assets in both ecosystems.

Protocols launched on the Kava network can also take advantage of Kava’s own $ 750 million KavaRise developer incentive program, following the launch of the mainnet. Through the program’s developer-centric distribution model, Kava will be the first “builder-owned” blockchain.
