The popular NFT collector “punk 6529” today announced an ambitious open metaverse project aimed at attracting 100 million users.
The self-funded project is called “OM” and aims to be an open platform built and shared by the community. The broader vision of this project is to launch 10 autonomous cities, each with a maximum population of 10 million.
The museum district of the first city (Genesis City) was launched in alpha mode today, and punk6529 could be “the highest-end art NFT ever exhibited in one place” to 323,200 Twitter followers. He is bullish that he has sex.
OM’s promotional video shows a long list of NFTs from top projects such as CryptoPunks, Tyler Hobbs’ Fidenza collection, Bored Ape Yacht Club, and ArtBlocks. At this stage, 2000 NFTs belonging to either punk6529 or a team member of the project are on display. However, new users can also “load” the NFT into the OM gallery.

NFT proponents said they weren’t thinking about charging or crowdfunding at this stage, as they aim to provide a working product before it scales up with an investment. Did. At this stage, anyone is free to participate in and build Alpha, as long as it matches the “ideas” of the museum district.
“I don’t want your ETH, I’m asking for your opinion on how to design OM. I collect in public, invest in public, and together in public I’m going to build an OM. “
“OM’s basic governance model is at the district level. Districts are either“ development ”or“ open ”. For example, 6529 plans to develop the 6529 Museum District. Others can develop others. Others can be a space where they can experiment freely, “they added.
To celebrate the beginning of OM, I just took a photo from the tallest building and mint it # 6529 Museum District Inspired by @DrifterShoots). This is really great, thank you for creating this. @ punk6529 @ 6529er #OM #openmetaverse pic.twitter.com/hpRbIMgVzn

In terms of scale, punk6529 states that there are 25 active buildings in the central square of the Museum Quarter, and 2000 more are not yet active.
“Each building can accommodate 1 to 100 spaces, so this district type can easily accommodate 100,000 citizens,” says punk6529.
NFT collectors also expressed their views on the Open Metaverse, stating that OM assumes that “no one is responsible”. Metaverse without having to worry about “who are the shareholders and do you agree with them?”
“This isn’t too shocking, humans have achieved this before. No one is in charge of email, HTML, TCP / IP, Bitcoin, or ERC-721.”

In order for the project to grow and attract mainstream viewers, the punk6529 needs to be affordable, user-friendly and provide a bridge to the real world to extend beyond “ETH / cryptocurrency”. It states that there is.
If everything goes according to plan, OM will move to public beta around June or July if the Metaverse attracts enough users and technicians can support further development and more space.
Cointelegraph will contact punk6529 for project details and will update the story if there is a response.
