- NFTs will be offered to at least 3 home games for each team
- Tickets are managed on the Ticketmaster platform
The National Football League (NFL) and Ticketmaster are expanding their non-fungible token (NFT) ticket initiatives to offer free commemorative digital tickets to fans participating in one of the 100 games chosen next season. increase.
Fans will be eligible for a free NFT if they can scan tickets at the entrance to the stadium and manage, redeem and sell tokens through Ticketmaster’s dedicated marketplace. Commemorative tickets are available for at least three home games for each team and a weekly match.
This initiative is designed to leverage the demands of both NFT collectibles and provide digital equivalents to physical ticket stubs in the age of mobile tickets. Digital ticket stubs are a much more natural form of NFT than any other concept, as they are directly similar to physical tickets, which are limited in supply due to the capacity of the stadium.
The NFL distributed over 500,000 NFTs in some games last season, but fans had to aggressively buy digital stubs and buy tickets through official partners.
By offering NFT for free and qualifying ticket owners, NFL hopes to normalize the concept and promote adoption.
