With the team’s victory over Utah Jazz on Friday night, Popovich broke Don Nelson’s record and became the most regular season-winning NBA coach under his belt: 1,336.
Each of the 1,336 Spurs NFTs is a digital reproduction of one of Popovich’s five hand-painted playing cards, combined with one of Spurs’ five coat designs during his reign. NFTs, or non-fungible tokens, are digital identifiers that can be used to show ownership of digitized assets such as photos, videos, and audio files.
The proceeds from the sale will be donated to San Antonio Food Bank.
The 1336 Coach Pop Collection contains five unique NFTs that can be auctioned. They represent the Spurs’ five NBA championships under Popovich’s leadership.
The winning bidder will also be provided with a hard copy of the autographed physical playcard and a VIP Spurs experience. The auction starts at 9am on Monday and ends at 9pm on Thursday at Spurs.com/NFT.
The remaining 1,331 NFTs will each be available for purchase at the NFT Marketplace OpenSea starting Monday at 9am. It can be accessed from Spurs.com/NFT.
